Undergraduate Scholars Video Now Available

The Undergraduate Scholars Program is an initiative at the University of Manchester to get bachelor students involved in current research activities. I ran one of these programmes called “Conducting Corpus-based Research on Spoken Language.” A video recording of the final presentation is now available. Three students joined the project, which consisted of transcribing and analysing speech by native speakers of American English. They are: Wenjing Shi, Jamie-Lea Carter and Brendan Cox. I would like to thank them for their hard work and enthusiasm.

The final result of the project is an online corpus interface. It can be viewed under www.spokencorpus.org. I’m hoping to extend the corpus further in the coming years. Stay tuned for updates.
